Want to know more about what the Disability Royal Commission (DRC) is and why it is happening?
Good day everyone from DAS Admin Receptionist Wendy-Lea! Below is a great little video made by Relationships Australia. This video explains what the Disability Royal Commission (DRC) is and why it is happening.
In related news about the DRC. Recently there was a public petition to extend the time the DRC is conducting it’s investigations and then to report its findings.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the DRC experienced delays and interruptions to their investigations. However thanks to the efforts of concerned citizens, carers and supporting services (stakeholders) voicing the need for an extension something great happened….
On the 13th of May 2021 the Australian Government granted a much needed extension to the DRC.
As a result of the new extension.
The DRC can now set public hearing dates, schedule individual interviews and continue their research program and engagement activities. All while keeping up the standard of quality expected by all concerned, which is with the care and attention these issues need.
The DRC will submit their final report of findings into the Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability on the 29th of September 2023.
